Description
The GM 4L60 (700-R4)/4L60-E family of transmissions boasts the steepest first gear ratio of any four-speed automatic, a whopping 3.06. Unfortunately, this massive RPM drop when shifting from 1st Gear to 2nd Gear can cause performance engines to lose power and fall out of their optimal power band. However, the 2.84 input carrier kit is the solution to this issue. It effectively transforms the transmission from an OE "wide ratio" 3.06/1.63 to a "close ratio" 2.84/1.55, resulting in game-changing acceleration on the track. By keeping performance engines in their optimal power band, this kit allows for a longer pull in first and second gears, improving consistency and overall performance.
This carrier assembly is manufactured and engineered to ensure outstanding durability. Its gears are precision-ground to OE standards, while its thrust washers feature highly wear-resistant PTFE-coated material. Additionally, the captured bearing is of a thicker late design, and lube channels direct oil to the pinion pins. The carrier can even be disassembled for inspection and service.
In addition to keeping the engine in the power band on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, this carrier kit delivers a longer pull in 1st and 2nd gears, thanks to its six-pinion planet loaded with advanced durability features.
